The Oakland Unified School District has hired an athletic league commissioner, and his message is clear and optimistic:.
" The OAL (Oakland Athletic League) is here to stay," Mike Moore said.
Moore, a longtime OUSD administrator, was assigned to the long-unfilled position by interim superintendent Roberta Mayor on Friday.
"She was on the phone with me at the start of business on her first day," Moore said. "Before the sun was up. One of her first priorities was to make sure this was taken care of. It was an opportunity for me to make sure of the survival the league."
